At the Castle we are strongly committed to energy efficiency. Since September 2014 we have had a solar panel installation on the west roof. These panels cover an area of 22 m2 and by means of solar collector tubes enable us to harvest the maximum possible amount of solar energy. Thus the primary source of our power is the sun and as back-up we have a gas-fired condensation boiler which is one of the most efficient on the market.
We have also installed a smart system in El Castell which allows us to manage energy more efficiently depending on its occupancy levels and the weather conditions outside. There are thermostats in every room so the occupant can decide on the optimum temperature, check the temperature of the spa from the room itself or decide whether you want to put the room heating on ‘night’ mode while sleeping.
In terms of internal management, this smart system lets us manage the Castle from a mobile device: opening thermostat valves to turn off the central heating in a particular room, checking that the lights in the spa have been switched off, deciding whether to divert surplus solar power to the Jacuzzi... every calorie of heat captured from our solar panels is very welcome and used to its best advantage!
If you would like more information, please feel free to ask for a tour of our facilities. We will be delighted to explain how everything works.
At the same time, we rely on a change in the energy model. That's why that the electricity that we consume is provided by the green energy cooperative Som Energia. This cooperatibe works with 100% renewable energy (sun, wind, biogas, biomass, etc.)
